Soup Joumou Films is a young production company based in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), created by the actor and filmmaker Jean Jean and the producer Rocío Barba.
Jean Jean. Actor and filmmaker born in Haiti in 1980. He has spent most of his life at the Dominican Republic where he graduated from “The Angel Hache Performance Laboratory” (National School of Dramatic Arts) in 2003. In 2011, he graduated from the Chair of Documentary of the International School of Cinema and Television (San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba). His body of works includes several shorts film among which highlight "Mujer!!!" (2009), selected by The 2nd Caribbean Traveling Festival (II Muestra Itinerante del Caribe), and "Lo que Sueñan Las Abejas" (2010), selected by the Beijing Film Schools Festival. He's one of the directors of the documentary series "To Be a Human Being" (2010). “God willing, Yuli” is his first feature documentary film.
Rocío Barba. Born in Córdoba, Spain, in 1985. She has a degree in Law and a career linked to the social movements and Human Rights organizations. In 2014, she trained in Documentary Production and Filmmaking at Centre for independent filmmakers of Montreal (Canada). In 2015, she graduated from International Workshop in Executive Production coordinated for Sandford Lieberson at the International School of Cinema and Television of San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba).
